Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Atef Tarawneh, on Wednesday called the Arab and Muslim lawmakers for holding emergency talks to discuss the diverse repercussions of moving US embassy to Jerusalem.

He, at a consultative House gathering on this issue here, deemed this US administration's step as " perilous" and highlighted its grave implications on the Palestinian people's aspirations to achieve their sovereign state.

The Arab nations, he added, are vigorously spurred to discard their disparities and to display firm solidarity to defend this holy site.

Jerusalem is an eternal symbol of peace and faiths and its consecrated identity belongs to Muslims and Christians alike, he pointed out.

"Our role is to identify the Israeli apartheid measures against the Palestinian people and our call is a step in this direction, in a bid to reach a relevant unanimous stance, he added.

The US administration's decision, if taken, will undermine peace efforts and sends a message of unfair bias on the expense of a given party's rights and will ignite frustration for forthcoming generations, awaiting the opportunity to live in peace and security, he affirmed.

The world, he said, has to recognize any attempt to tamper with the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem will have irreversible ramifications on the region.
