Jordan joins anti-weapons global group

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan, on Thursday, joined the Group of Seven (G7)'s Global Partnership Against the Spread of Weapons and Materials of Mass Destruction.

Jordan's membership was announced during a group's meeting held at the Italian Foreign Ministry, where Italy currently holds the rotating presidency of the G7 group.

Jordan's request for membership was supported by all delegates of the member states participating in the meeting, which reflects the deep confidence of the international community in the Kingdom and its role and efforts in the field of non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and the fight against terrorism.

The Global Partnership is a multilateral initiative launched in 2002 at the Kananaskis Summit in Canada to enhance cooperation and funding for programs, activities and action plans aimed at strengthening the international system for preventing proliferation, combating terrorism, disarmament and nuclear safety.
