Free zones log half billion Dinars in trade during September ـــــ statement

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Trade volume of Jordan's public and private free zones edged up during September, earning 16 percent more than the same month of last year, a statement by the Jordan Free and Development Zones Group said Monday.

The increase was due to higher imports which went up by 15 percent, added the statement.

"Exports of public and private free zones rose during September to JD2.4 million compared with the same month of 2016, taking the volume to JD228.1 million", explained the statement.

It went on that the exports of public free zones in September recorded JD175 million, the lion's share of which went to machinery, which totaled JD101 million, while JD74 million was spent on commodities.

The volume of imports put up to JD22 million, marking an increase of 15 percent higher than September 2016, said the statement, adding that imports totaled JD166 million, the bulk of which were machinery, which totaled JD97 million, while JD69 million went to commodities
