Jordan attends first OIC summit on science, technology

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Adel Tweisi Sunday participated in the first Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit on Science, technology and Innovation, which began in the Kazakhstan capital of Astana.

The summit, in which a number of heads of state and government and representatives of OIC member states are taking part, will tackle a number of topics of common importance to Islamic countries, particularly in the sectors of water, energy, improving health, environmental protection and food and water security.

The two-day gathering of the pan-Islamic organisation will focus on ways to enhance science, technology and innovation and the importance of promoting scientific and technical advancement.

The summit will be capped with the Astana Declaration on Science, Technology and Innovation, titled "science and technology for the sake of the nation".
