Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The government condemned the Israeli occupation authorities for allowing Jewish extremists to storm Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, which provokes Muslims around the world.

Minister of State for Media Affairs Mohammad Momani said that the government held Israel, as the occupying power, fully responsible for not stopping calls by some Israeli cabinet members and some Knesset members which led Jewish settlers to storm Al Aqsa Mosque.

Israeli hostility will have severe consequences on Muslims holy sites, international laws and the peace agreement signed with Jordan, Momani said.

Momani reiterated Jordan's stance that rejects the Israeli measures to change the status quo in Al Aqsa Mosque/Al Haram Al Sharif, where only Muslims can worship at the site.

The minister pointed to the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites in Jerusalem, stressing Jordan's commitment towards holy sites, prayers and employees of the Jordanian Jerusalem Awqaf.
