King, Spanish monarch hold talks

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Majesty King Felipe VI of Spain held talks on Friday on bilateral ties and regional developments.

During a one-on-one meeting, before being joined by top aides, the two leaders stressed the depth of the Jordanian-Spanish relations and their keenness to cement them in all fields, especially in the economic, investment, energy and infrastructure domains.

They also underscored the importance of coordination and consultation on various issues at the regional and international arenas to enhance international peace and security.

The talks, held over a dinner banquet hosted by King Abdullah in honor of the Spanish monarch and his accompanying delegation, touched on the latest developments in the Middle East, especially the peace process, the Syrian crisis and the war on terror.

The two leaders stressed the need to exert more efforts to breathe life into the peace process and re-launch serious and effective negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis, on the basis of a two-state solution, as the only solution to the conflict.

They also stressed that a political solution is the only way to end crises in the Middle East and restore security and stability of its peoples.

King Felipe VI, who arrived in Jordan to participate in the World Economic Forum, expressed his country's appreciation for the role played by His Majesty King Abdullah to deal with various challenges facing the region, as well as Jordan's efforts to bear the burden of hosting large numbers of Syrian refugees.
