PM orders public institutions to heed electoral campaigning guidelines

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister Hani Mulki Sunday urged ministries and other public entities to abide by an executive order issued by the Independent Election Commission banning all government employees from electoral campaigning ahead of municipal elections due to be held in mid-August.

In a statement circulated to public institutions today, Mulki cited articles of executive instructions that prohibit senior government officials from using their positions in favour of any candidate running in the polls to choose municipal and governorate councils.

The electoral commission has vowed to conduct free and fair elections.
