Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan's economy grew 2 percent in the fourth quarter of 2016 from a year earlier, the central government statistics office said on Sunday. That was slightly faster than 1.8 percent growth year-on-year in the previous quarter.

The kingdom began a three-year IMF programme at the end of last year to support reforms aimed at lowering public debt and accelerating growth. The International Monetary Fund said at the end of a mission to Jordan last month that regional conflicts in Syria and Iraq continued to weigh on the Jordanian economy but growth would pick up modestly in 2017, driven by some rebound in exports, tourism and remittances.
