King, Saudi monarch attend military parade

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army, and Saudi King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, on Tuesday, attended a military parade held on the Royal Court grounds to coincide with the Saudi monarch's historic visit.

His Majesty bestowed upon the Saudi monarch the Al Hussein Bin Ali Medal, the most prestigious Jordanian honour conferred upon Kings, princes and heads of state, in honour of the Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques' wise leadership and to recognise the historic and brotherly ties between the two countries.

The two monarchs' motorcade was flanked by Royal Guard cavaliers as they headed to the site, where they received a 42-gun salute as a brass military band played the national anthems of the two countries. Two Royal Air Force helicopter gunships carrying the two countries' flags hovered overhead.

An armed forces musical band made performances as special royal guard groups paraded in front of the podium and a Guard of Honour and camel cavalry units made their own performances.

There were also poetry recitals praising the strong ties between Jordan and Saudi Arabia before the leaders watched an air by various Royal Air Force jets.

The ceremony was attended by a number of Royal family members, the prime minister, the Senate president, the speaker of the Lower House, the president of the Judicial Court, the Royal Court chief, the president of the Constitutional Court, the King's advisor for national security affairs and General Intelligence director, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, the director of the King's Office, the King's advisors, the King's special envoy to Saudi Arabia, the cabinet ministers, the directors of the civil defense, public security, and gendarmerie departments as well as other senior civil and military officials.

The parade was also attended by a number of Royal Saudi family members, a number of ministers, and senior Saudi officials.
