FM, EU foreign policy chief discuss regional developments

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi and EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini highlighted the strong Jordanian-European ties.

During a meeting on the sidelines of their participation in meeting of the foreign ministers of the Global Coalition to Counter Daesh in Washington, the two officials stressed the importance of institutional approach to promote partnership that reflects on economic cooperation, and boost coordination to address regional challenges.

Safadi and Mogherini also discussed the Palestinian issue, noting that a solution to this issues will contribute to achieving security and stability in the Middle East.

They also discussed the Syrian crisis, the situation in Libya, the war on terrorism in addition to the international conference on Syrian that will be held early next month as well as the Arab summit that will be hosted by Jordan.

Safadi stressed the importance of focusing the refugees' needs and supporting host countries, pointing to the burden shouldered by the Kingdom as a result of hosting more that 1.3 million Syrian refugees.

He affirmed the importance exerting further efforts to ensure the success of the ceasefire in Syria, and achieve a peaceful solution that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people.

Safadi is the taking part today in the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Global Coalition to Counter Daesh in Washington that is attended by foreign ministers and representatives of 68 countries.
