US national guard team participates in joint military drill

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - A US public relations team from the Colorado National Guard (CNG) joined the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army (JAF) in a drill carried out by the chemical support unit of the Royal Engineering Corps through photojournalism coverage of the event.

The drill, the first joint military public affairs exercise in Jordan, is within a 2004 cooperation programme between the JAF and the CNG aimed at building capacities and exchanging expertise between the armed forces of Jordan and friendly countries.

The drill, simulating an operation to deal with a potential release of chemicals, involved rescue and removing of the toxic effects of chemicals from the bodies of victims and rescuers.

Bilateral Affairs Officer at the US embassy Lt Col. Nicole David said Jordan and the United States had maintained a solid and enduring partnership spanning six decades as one of the world's most mature military relationships.

She said the partnership is reflected in the joint drill, adding that the United States and Jordan shared the goal of ending extremism and violence that threatened national and regional security and the entire world.
