Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi on Friday said that Jordan took part in Astana meeting on Syria as an observer.

The minister reiterated Jordan's support to all international efforts to stop fighting in Syria, including its southern territories.

Safadi made the remarks as he took part in a discussion about Syria on the sidelines of a diplomatic summit in Bonn, Germany, with the participation of US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

During the meeting, Safadi underlined the importance of ending the Syrian crisis through a peaceful solution that must be accepted by all Syrians. Geneva talks, he said, remain the main framework for negotiating a peaceful solution to the crisis.

He also asked to re-launch UN-brokered political talks, with the participation of all stakeholders to find a solution to the Syrian crisis.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Safadi met with British Foreign Minister Boris Johnson and discussed ways to boost bilateral ties and the latest developments.

The two ministers underscored the importance of coordination and cooperation to fight terrorism and extremism.
