Senate president meets with Japan's foreign affairs minister

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - President of the Senate, Faisal al-Fayez, on Sunday, met with Japan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kentaro Sonoura, and discussed Jordanian-Japanese relations and ways to cement cooperation in various domains.

The meeting, which was held on the sidelines of the World Government Summit, currently being held in Dubai, the UAE, discussed a number of Middle East issues, including the Syrian crisis and the fight against terrorism.

The senate president spoke about burdens being borne by Jordan as a result of regional turmoil and an enormous influx of Syrian refugees. Al-Fayez thanked Tokyo for its support to the Kingdom and urged for more Japanese assistance.

The Japanese minister highlighted Jordan's role in the fight against terror and its pursuit of peace and stability in the Middle East.
