EU grants 55m euros to support budget

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan signed on Thursday, an agreement with the EU granting the Kingdom 55 million euros to develop the private sector through the general budget.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury and EU Ambassador to Jordan Andrea Matteo Fontana.
In a press statement following the signing ceremony, Fakhoury said that the grant comes within efforts to provide the necessary support to the general budget as well as development programs and projects of top priority.
He said that the grant is offered by the EU in the form of sectoral support through the general budget to improve reforms in the business and investment environment.
The grant, the minister added, also covers of the fields of competitiveness, promoting the role of medium size businesses and creating job opportunities to enhance the role of women and youth in economic participation.
Fakhoury voiced appreciation of Jordan's government and people for the aid provided by the EU to the Kingdom.
The EU ambassador said Jordan is an important and strategic partner of the EU, and voiced its continued support to the Kingdom.
