Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman al-Safadi, on Wednesday, held meetings with a number of European counterparts on the sidelines of his participation in the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland.

The minister met with the foreign ministers of Finland and Switzerland and discussed with them a number of Middle East issues, including the Palestinian cause and the Syrian crisis and its repercussions on Jordan.

Al-Safadi highlighted financial, economic and social burdens being borne by Jordan as a result of hosting more than 1.3 million Syrians, urging the international community to shoulder its responsibilities towards Jordan and the refugees.

He stressed the need for international aid programs that focus on the developmental needs of refugees and launching programs help to alleviate the burden on Jordan.

He said investment in the Syrian children's education is an investment in a secure future for the region and the international community.

The Finnish and Swiss ministers praised Jordan's efforts in this regard and stressed their keenness to develop cooperation with the Kingdom to assist it in carrying this burden and strengthen bilateral relations.

Separately, Al-Safadi discussed with UN envoy Staffan de Mistura efforts to resolve Syrian crisis and said such efforts should pursue a full cessation of hostilities across Syria and bring an end to the suffering of the Syrian people.
