Anani hands King's invitation to Iraqi President to participate in Amman Summit

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Iraqi President, Fuad Masum, on Monday, received Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of State for Investment, Jawad Anani, who handed him a letter from His Majesty King Abdullah II, containing an invitation to participate in the Arab Summit to be held in the Kingdom in March.

During the meeting, Anani, conveyed His Majesty the King's greetings to the Iraqi president and his wishes for Iraq to overcome challenges it faces.

Iraqi president confirmed that he will attend the Arab Summit in Jordan, saying the summit, under the leadership of His Majesty King and at this time, provides a unique opportunity for the Arab world to resolve its differences and strengthen Arab solidarity.

He also said he was following with great interest the King's efforts to speak to all Iraqi parties involved, to reach a comprehensive and national Iraqi reconciliation that ensures the unity of Iraqi people and Iraq's territorial integrity, stressing that there is no sensitivity in Iraq towards these endeavors.

The Iraqi President condemned the cowardly terrorist incident in Karak governorate yesterday, offering his condolences to His Majesty the King, the Jordanian people and the families of the martyrs.

On the sidelines of his visit to Baghdad, Anani met with Iraqi Foreign Minister, Ibrahim Al-Jaafari, who confirmed that he will attend the Amman Summit and participate in the foreign ministers' meetings, which precedes it.

He also met with head of the Iraqi National Alliance, Ammar Hakim, who confirmed his great respect for His Majesty the King and his important role at regional and international levels.

He said Iraq pins high hopes that its issues will be given great interest at the Arab summit, adding that the wise leadership and outstanding reputation the King enjoys on the Arab and international levels ensures the success of the summit.

Hakim called for further cooperation between Jordan and Iraq, particularly in the economic and trade fields for the benefit of the two countries.

He denounced the cowardly terrorist act which took place in Karak and claimed the life of a number of security personnel and innocent civilians.
