Saudi Arabia, Bahrain to consider new bridge

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Saudi Arabia and Bahrain have agreed to consider proposals for a new bridge linking the two Gulf states, to work alongside the current King Fahd Causeway.

The proposed new Causeway will be parallel to the King Fahd causeway and will be named the King Hamad Bridge, according to a statement released on Thursday.

The statement also added that finances for the proposed bridge project will come from the private sector.

Currently, the King Fahd Causeway serves as the only bridge connecting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. It was built and opened in 1986.
