FM receives former French FM, UN envoy

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Nasser Judeh, on Tuesday, met with former French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy, and his country's candidate to head the World Health Organization (WHO).

The two sides discussed bilateral relations and the latest regional developments and challenges.

Judeh also met with the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Ms. Sigrid Kaag, and discussed bilateral cooperation between Jordan and the international organization and the Syrian refugees crisis's repercussions on neighboring countries.

The foreign minister highlighted the burdens Jordan and host countries endure as a result of receiving Syrian refugees, calling on the international community to assume its responsibilities in this area and stressed the importance of finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

Judeh and the UN envoy tackled efforts to counter terrorism and extremism, saying Jordan has always been and will remain at the forefront of these efforts.

Kaag commended as "important" Jordan's role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in dealing with challenges facing the region, and said she was keen on continuing coordination with Jordan.
