Iraq, Jordan affirm importance of oil and gas pipeline

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Iraq and Jordan have stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in the field of oil and energy, and the need to implement a double pipeline to transport Iraqi oil and gas across the Jordanian port of Aqaba.

This came during the Iraqi Oil Minister Jabbar Luaibi’s meeting with the Jordanian Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ibrahim Saif, in Baghdad yesterday.

The two ministers agreed to resume cooperation in the field of supplying Jordan with Iraqi crude oil after the security situation stabilises in the border provinces and to cooperate in the field of training and the exchange of experiences.

Luaibi said Iraq and Jordan have historical ties, stressing that negotiations between the two countries has reached an advanced stage.

The Iraqi minister said a committee will be formed in the offices of the two ministers to follow up on the developments in this project and submit progress reports.
