Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan’s army is on a state of alert along its border with Iraq, following Daesh’s attack on a town on the Iraqi side of the border yesterday.

Jordanian military sources told the 24 News Agency that the army was instructed to use appropriate force against any violations of the border.

Iraq has also called for reinforcements of its army forces along the border with Jordan.

Last week, the Iraqi launched a campaign to rid the country of Daesh. In what has become known as the Battle for Mosul, Kurdish, Turkish, Shia and Sunni fighters are aiding government forces to rid the country’s northern capital of the terror group, its last stronghold in Iraq.

It is thought that Daesh militants who escape will make their way to Syria, home to their other stronghold, Raqqa.

Daesh fighters, estimated at between 4,000 and 8,000, have rigged the city with explosives, mined and booby-trapped roads, built oil-filled moats they can set alight, dug tunnels, and trenches and have shown every willingness to use Mosul’s up to 1.5 million civilians as human shields.
