King meets international leaders participating in UN General Assembly meetings

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II, on Tuesday, held several meeting with heads of states and delegations participating in the 71st session United Nations General Assembly.

His Majesty met with King Philip VI of Spain and discussed with him cooperation between the two countries and ways of developing them in various fields, in addition to the latest developments in the Middle East.

In another meeting, King Abdullah and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, discussed regional developments and stressed the importance of intensifying international coordination and efforts to deal with crises and resolve them to ensure peace and promote security and stability in the region.

Both leaders tackled ways to reach a comprehensive political solution to the Syrian crisis to end the suffering of the Syrian people, as well as efforts to resume negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis.

With regard to counterterror efforts, the two leaders reaffirmed the need to intensify efforts to address the threat of terrorism and its gangs that threaten the security of everyone, without exception.

The meeting discussed the results of King Abdullah's recent visit to Egypt, and building on the meetings that were held afterwards between senior officials from the two countries to strengthen cooperation, especially in the economic sphere.

His Majesty the King also met with President of Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, and discussed with him cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting touched on developments in the Middle East, especially the Syrian crisis and its regional and international repercussions as well as efforts to achieve a comprehensive solution to the crisis, along with efforts to fight terrorism within a holistic approach.

The King also met Britain Prime Minister, Theresa May, and discussed a number of issues, including the latest developments in the Middle East, especially the Syrian crisis and the future of the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis.

The British prime minister stressed the importance of efforts, led by His Majesty the King, to maintain security and stability in the Middle East, and find solutions to the crises the region is facing, particularly in Syria, as well as King Abdullah's efforts to revive the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis based on a two-state solution.

Also, His Majesty and Norway Prime Minister, Erna Solberg, explored ways of strengthening Jordanian-Norwegian relations in various fields, especially in light of the partnership relations between Jordan and the European Union (EU).

In a meeting with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, the King reviewed relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen mutual cooperation, and build on results of His Majesty's visit to Kosovo in November 2015.

His Majesty the King also met with the Prime Minister of Thailand, Prayut Chan-o-cha, and discussed mutual cooperation, particularly promoting trade and investments between the two countries, as well as international efforts regarding the war on terrorism.

King Abdullah held another meeting with President of the World Bank, Jim Yong Kim, and discussed ways to boost relations between the Kingdom and the international organization, especially in light of the agreements and the economic and developmental programs implemented by Jordan in collaboration with the World Bank.

His Majesty said Jordan appreciated for the bank's efforts, through its various programs, to support the national economy and enable it to achieve the development goals.
