Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan has taken part in an anti-Daesh meeting in Washington, which was held with the participation of 40 countries, the EU, UN, NATO and the Interpol.
Jordan, which is represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh, took part in the meeting as a member of international coalition against the terrorist organization.
The meeting reviewed the efforts being exerted by the coalition to defeat Daesh, as well as the progress that has been made in the military and security domains. Further, a number of sessions were held to discuss next steps against the terrorist group and ways to build on achievements and keep momentum to eradicate Daesh.
The ministers discussed ways to bolster intelligence information exchange and enhance cross-border coordination to fight terrorism.
In his speech at the opening session, Judeh said that terrorism must be addressed through three layers; the military, security and more importantly the ideological level. The minister also called for more efforts be exerted to find political solutions to the Middle East crises and causes, at the foremost of which is the Palestinian cause.
Jordan, he added, plays a leading role in the war against terrorism, while reiterating that those terrorists do not represent the true image of Islam.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Judeh met with a number of counterparts and officials to discuss ways to bolster ties and address regional challenges.
