Jordan to start talks with IMF over new fiscal reform program

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan will next week kick off negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to agree on a fiscal and structural reform program likely to be implemented in the 2016-2020 period.

To this end, an IMF delegation will arrive in Amman next week for extensive talks with officials from the ministry of finance and the Central Bank of Jordan, according to Finance Minister Omar Malhas.

The IMF team will also hold meetings with officials from a wide range of government agencies, banks as well as lawmakers. The minister noted that reforms the program will seek to introduce cover areas of business environment, preparing a strategy to diversify national exports, boosting the competitiveness of the national economy and studying electricity prices among others.
