PM meets Saudi transport minister

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS-Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Thursday met with Saudi Transport Minister Abdullah Al Miqbil in the presence of Prince Khaled Bin Al Walid BinTalal and the Saudi delegation taking part in meetings of the Joint Jordanian-Saudi Committee.

Ensour highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and Saudi Arabia and thanked Saudi Arabia for its continued support to Jordan as well as to Arab and Islamic causes.

Jordan, he said is committed to preserving security on its borders with neighboring countries, mainly Saudi Arabia, and protecting them from all threats.

He pointed out that Jordan in interested in boosting cooperation with Saudi Arabia and accomplishing the railway project between both countries as it would serve the interests of both countries and link them with regional countries and Europe.

"Jordan is keen to attract more Saudi and Gulf investments in light of the political security and stability that prevails in the Kingdom, as well as its economic openness.

The prime minister also spoke about the challenges facing Jordan due to the situation in the region, mainly the crisis in Syria and the issue of refugees.

The Saudi transport minister stressed the importance of the joint committee meetings in further enhancing relations between the two countries, pointing to the role played by the Saudi ambassador in Jordan in this regard.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply praised the atmosphere that prevailed during the joint committee meetings as well as the strong ties between the two countries, adding that trade exchange between the two countries reached $5.3 billion in 2014.
