Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - From entertainment to art and poetry, the ancient Roman roads in the historic city of Jerash will be beaming with activity today's evening to as Jerash festival for culture and art kicks off in spectacular fashion.

Against the backof traditional music of Jordan armed forces, dressed in colourful attire and marching to the tunes of war drums, top officials from the government will light the torch, signalling the start of festivities bonanza.

In the surrounding arenas, Roman theatres and allies, hundreds of activities to take place, including crafts sales, talent shows, solitary music and groups playing various types of music.

The festival of Jerash for cultured and art promises visitors an array of activities for families including concerts for famous artists, musical shows and cultural activities to accommodate all tastes, said orgnaizers.

A number of leading local and Arab artists will take part in activities including from Lebanon, Egypt, north Africa and the gulf region.

Visitors will also enjoy performances of folkloric dance troupes representing Circassian, Spanish and Chinese cultures.

The agenda includes poetry sessions, with renowned Jordanian and Arab poets to recite some of their works.

The government recently said it has taken steps to boost tourism revenues by facilitating arrival of foreign tourists.
