Kuwaiti official hails economic ties with Jordan

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - ­­ Kuwait is keen on deepening its economic ties with Jordan with the emphasis on investment and trade, said a Kuwaiti official here on Tuesday.

In a statement to KUNA, Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Trade Affairs in the Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Nimr Al­Fahad Al­Sabah applauded the significant role undertaken by the Kuwaiti private sector in supporting and energizing the Jordanian economy.

He was speaking on the sideline of the meetings of the joint Kuwaiti Jordanian committee, ongoing here today.

Among other things, he said he talked with the Jordanian officials about preparing a number of memorandums of
understanding on cooperation in insurance and in industry to be officially signed tomorrow.

The talks also dealt with encouraging the Jordanian private sector to tap investment opportunities in Kuwait and
with easing the flow of trade and commerce between the two countries, he said. On his part, Jordan's Trade and Supply Secretary General at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry Ramzi

Shawish extoled the work being done by the joint committee of both nations while underscoring the importance
of building firm partnerships in common fields of interest that would enhance the trade picture for them.

Trade between Kuwait and Jordan topped USD 315.2 million last year compared to USD 301.4 million in 2013, a
spike of 4.5 percent, whereas the size of trade between them by the conclusion of the first quarter of this yearcame to USD 89.2 million, according to official Jordanian data.
