King calls for national strategy to address challenges facing educational sector

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II stressed the need to put in place a clear national strategy with a specific and practical time frame to address challenges facing the educational sector and human resources in the Kingdom.

During a meeting at Al Husseiniya Palace on Monday with head and members of the National Committee for Human Resources Development in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, His Majesty emphasized the importance of enhancing citizens' confidence in the quality and efficiency of the educational system in Jordan, and developing this vital sector in such a way that ensures development of human resources.

During the meeting, which was also attended by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour, the King said that the committee's agenda and its work vision should conform to the 10-year economic blueprint (2015-2025) and that its work be a completion of efforts made by the Royal Consultative Committee for Education as well as various studies in this regard.

"The practical measure of the level of success and the achievement of goals, is the true implementation of this strategy and the achievement of a quality education that is felt by all citizens," King Abdullah added.

The meeting highlighted the need for a 10-year executive plan that includes all stages of education in addition to a national conference to endorse it.

In comments during the meeting, Her Majesty Queen Rania said developing the educational sector is a top priority as this sector plays a key role in enhancing competence and capabilities of all Jordanians.

She stressed the importance of implementing the strategy and addressing the challenges facing this sector in a serious and objective manner.

The Head of the National Committee for Human Resources Development, Wajih Owais, reviewed the duties of the committee and its future vision to develop the educational sector, stressing that the committee is keen to achieve the King's visions and aspirations.
