Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - His Majesty King Abdullah II on Wednesday received at Al Husseinyieh Palace the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, to discuss ties and regional conditions.

The King said Jordan is eager to promote ties with Italy at all levels as part of the Kingdom's efforts for an advanced partnership with the European Union and to maintain consultation and coordination to serve the two countries' common interests.

During the meeting which touched on developments regarding various current issues, the King highlighted Jordan's local and international supportive stances in addressing different challenges facing the Middle East, in particular efforts to bring peace and confront terrorism and extremism.

In this regard, His Majesty noted the important role that Italy and the European Union can play towards achieving peace, promoting regional peace and security and sparing the region more chaos and conflict.

Talks also tackled hurdles facing countries in the region, especially the Syrian crisis and the ongoing developments in the Yemeni and Libyan arenas.

Italian official hailed the advanced ties between Jordan and Italy and the King's endeavors to achieve international peace and security.
