Al Qadi: (44)TV station , 36 radio broadcasts from Jordan

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Diaa Talafha - The head of the Media Commission, Dr. Amjad Al Qadi said that freedom in Jordan is an absolute as described by His Majesty.

Al Qadi added that freedom is compliance with laws and regulations and legislation prevailing whether local or international, everyone must understand the law and the meaning of freedom.

He pointed out that the media body to monitor all media from the satellite channels and radio stations and websites are dealing with each violation depending on their size either alarm or warning or stop program or transfer the prosecutor if there was a decision to ban publication in a particular subject.

He pointed out that the number of media in the Kingdom is on the rise amounted to prepare the electronic news sites (169) licensed site in addition to (36) of which Radio (3) radio stations owned by non-Jordanians people and (3) re-broadcast radio stations.

The number of channels are (44) 16 of them owned by Jordanian and 9 owned by Iraqi , 13 owned by Saudi , 2 owned by Omani and 2 owned by an Algerian and one TV station owned by Kuwaiti and Yemeni.

Al Qadi said that the media body suggested new law is currently held by the Council of Representatives, which will pass soon, "not to grant new licenses for radio stations fm only to companies owned by the Jordanian citizens."
