Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The head of the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee, MP Bassam Manasir, met on Monday with a delegation representing the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL).

Manasir said that Jordan is the only country in the region that enjoys security and stability in the light of the crises and conflicts that plague the region. "Jordan carried out reforms even before the Arab Spring," he said, pointing to the political reforms that date back to 1989 during which the country returned to democratic life.

The MP briefed the delegation about the economic challenges facing the Kingdom, mainly in the light of the continued influx of Syrian refugees into Jordan, in addition to the crises in neighboring countries.

The next stage, he added, will witness the enactment of laws on decentralization, municipalities and political parties, adding that these laws will be debated during the Parliament's ordinary session after the 2015 general budget is approved.

On the Palestinian issue, Manasir said a solution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution will end the conflict in the region and achieve security and stability for its peoples, pointing to the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II to push the peace process forward and support the Palestinians who are facing unjust Israeli practices.

On Syria, he reiterated Jordan's stance which calls for a political solution to the crisis in the neighboring country.

Members of the delegation are expected to tour a number of cities across the Kingdom to listen to citizens' views on various issues.
