Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Jordan's parliament asked on Tuesday for the government to take all "political and legal measures" to challenge Israel's encroachment of Al-Aqsa Mosque and to stop the occupation authorities from carrying out "racist" activities against the Mosque and other Islamic sites, Anadolu news agency reported.

In a statement quoted by Anadolu, the parliament, which considers the Israeli violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque a flagrant attack on all Muslims and Arabs, asked the government to oblige Israel to commit to all international laws and conventions regarding Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The parliament also hailed the steadfastness of the Muslim worshipers and Awqaf officers regarding their resistance in face of Israel's attacks on the Mosque.

It is worth mentioning that Al-Aqsa Awqaf Department has been under the guardianship of Jordan and supervised by the Jordanian Awqaf Ministry since Israel's occupation of Jerusalem.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during a joint press conference with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who was visiting the region on Monday and Tuesday, said that "extremist" Palestinians are to blame for the violence in Jerusalem.

However, in fact, extremist Israelis, including ministers and Knesset members, are the ones persisting in desecrating Al-Aqsa Mosque regularly under heavy Israeli protection. Israeli occupation forces also keep imposing restrictions on the entrance of Palestinians into the Mosque.

On Wednesday, sources told MEMO that the clashes continued, with Israeli occupation forces wounding 20 Palestinians and arresting seven others during their crackdown on Palestinian worshipers staying inside Al-Aqsa Mosque to protect it.
