FM discusses ties, region with US delegation

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh discussed on Thursday with a delegation of US Congressional aides, Jordan-US ties as well as the situation in the Middle East.
Judeh also reviewed with the delegation the latest developments in Gaza and said Jordan welcomed the comprehensive ceasefire between the Palestinians and Israelis. He stressed the need to expedite the dispatch of humanitarian and relief aid as well as reconstruction material to the Palestinians in the costal enclave.
The minister highlighted the efforts exerted by His Majesty King Abdullah II with all parties to put an end to the Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip and support efforts in this regard.
He called for intensifying international efforts to resume peace talks leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Judeh also spoke about the reforms implemented by Jordan, the last of which were the constitutional amendments that were approved by the Lower House of Parliament.
Discussions also dealt with the situation in Syria and the need to arrive at a political solution to the crisis that preserves the country's unity and security.
They also reviewed developments in Iraq, whereby Judeh voiced Jordan's support to efforts designed to enhance the country's unity.
Members of the delegation expressed appreciation for Jordan’s role under the King's leadership to bring about peace and security in the Middle East.
They also praised Jordan's humanitarian role towards the Syrian refugees.
