AMMONNEWS - By Abdelrahman Mitib Altakhaineh - People are arguing about the role that Jordan plays in supporting Gaza. Succinctly, I would like to mention the recent important steps that Jordan has taken in favour of Gaza.

First of all, Jordan has been exerting considerable pressure and efforts towards the end of Israeli attack on Gaza, led by His Majesty King AbdullahII, through contacts and intensive meetings with regional and world leaders such as UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. The King warned against the dangerous repercussions of the ongoing unrest in Gaza on regional stability.

Also, a special, unofficial meeting was held by the Jordanian Parliament to discuss the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza. The meeting was held in response to calls made by MPs who are against the Israeli attack on Gaza. Jordanian MPs have been working hard on pushing for a ceasefire in Gaza as well asorganising a donation campaign to help the Palestinian people in the strip.

Additionally, Foreign Minister, Nasser Judeh, reviewed the developments related to the latest Israeli escalation in Gaza and called for an end to the Israeli offensive there. He made several calls with other foreign officials and ministers of foreign affairs, such as foreign ministers of the Netherlands, FransTimmermans, Britain, Philip Hammond, Tunisia, MongiHamed, and Egypt, SamehShoukry, as well as with Arab League Secretary General Nabil Al Araby to stop the attack. Judehstressed the need for a ceasefire and a return to peace negotiations to arrive at a solution to the Palestinian issue.
Finally, it is a fact that Jordan will never refrain from supporting Gaza as well as protecting the Palestinian people living under Israeli occupation. Jordan has been stressing that the Palestinians have the right to live in peace without siege. Jordan is doing all in its power to deliver medical and humanitarian assistance to the Palestinians in Gaza and to assist them through presenting medical supplies and treating the wounded people there. Apart from Gaza, Jordan has been trying to achieve peaceful coexistence among the various sects and ethnic groups in the region. Allahsave Jordan.
