Prime minister meets with German foreign minister

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister, Abdullah Ensour, on Monday, met with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who started a tour to the region in an attempt to stop the escalation and to reach a truce in the Gaza Strip.
Ensour told the German minister that the current developments in the Middle East have implications and repercussions on the countries of the region, including Jordan, stressing that the Palestinian issue is the main conflict and that the region will not enjoy stability as long as no just solution for the Palestinian cause is found.
The prime minister underlined the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on Jordan, which hosts 1.4 million refugees Syrian and highlighted the economic, social and security challenges they place on infrastructure and job opportunities in host communities.
The German minister said he will later visit both Israel and the Palestinian territories to discuss the possibility of reaching calm in Gaza.
Steinmeier said Jordan is a factor security and stability in the Middle East.
He pointed out that Germany is looking with interest to the humanitarian situation of the Syrian refugees, stressing that there is a responsibility and an obligation on the international community to support Jordan to continue its humanitarian efforts in hosting refugees and maintain security and stability.
