More than 10,000 Syrian babies have been born as refugees in Jordan

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Majed Dabbas - Civil Status Department (CSD)registered 10370 Syrian babies have been born in Jordan during 2013.

Most of the newborns were delivered in Za'atri Camp mainly in the military field hospitals.

The Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan is meant to house 60,000 people displaced by the Syria conflict. So far, 160,000 now crowd the 2.8 square-mile camp, making it Jordan’s fifth-largest city.

According to UNHCR, more than 21,000 Syrian babies have been born to refugees since 2011. More than a million children are among the 2.2 million Syrians who have been forced to flee to neighbouring countries including Jordan, majority of babies have been born in Lebanon.
