Ramadan to begin on Wednesday

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The holy month of Ramadan this year begins on Wednesday in Jordan, Chief Islamic Justice Ahmad Hilayel announced on Monday.



Wednesday will be the first day of the holy month of Ramadan, Hilayel said at a routine ceremony held by the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs at the headquarters of the Chief Islamic Justice Department in the presence of religious scholars, astronomers, academicians and officials.



The crescent was not spotted in Jordan, making Tuesday the last day of the Hijri month of Sha'baan.



Several other Muslim countries also announced that Ramadan will begin on Wednesday, including Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei.
