Ammon News - NEW YORK His Majesty King Abdullah II on Monday met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and discussed regional and international issues, especially efforts to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

The King underscored the importance of solving the conflict on the basis of the two state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state that lives side by side with Israel in peace and security, within a regional context.

King Abdullah and Ki-moon reviewed the latest developments of the direct Palestinian-Israeli peace talks, which kicked earlier this month. They reiterated the importance of creating a suitable environment to achieve a tangible and swift progress in peace talks.

"Time is important", King Abdullah said, warning that the alternative to solving the Palestinian-Israeli conflict according to the two-state formula would be more conflicts and wars.

The King noted the role of the UN in dealing with regional and international challenges, underscoring the need to support the international body, thanks for its role in global security and stability.
