Mayor of Amman Receives Delegation from De Paul University

Ammon News - Mayor of Amman, Omar Maani, recently received a students delegation from De Paul University in Chicago, which visited Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) within the framework of the twinning agreement between the two cities (Amman & Chicago).

Maani received the guests and expressed his hopes that this visit shall add a considerable amount of information to their cultural knowledge, in regards to Amman and Jordan, according to their personal views and impressions.

Maani commended the good relations between Amman and Chicago, highlighting the importance of the joint cultural, touristic, and artistic programs and initiatives between GAM and the Municipality of Chicago which contributed to promoting the relationships and the exchange of experiences between both cities.

The delegation’s visit aims at exploring Jordan through visiting several governmental and nongovernmental institutions, especially GAM and its role in developing and updating the Capital, Amman.

The delegation was briefed on the historical development phases of Amman while watching the movie “Amman, Icon of Love & Work”.

The meeting was attended by City Deputy Manager for Cultural, Social, and Sports Affairs, Eng. Haitham Jweinat, Executive Director of Law faculty in De Paul University Charles Tucker, and a Professor in Public Service Faculty, Dr. Marco Tavanti, and the Arabic Language Program Coordinator of the University, Dr. Nesreen Akhtarkhavari.

It is worth noting that Amman and Chicago are connected with a twinning and cooperation agreement in the fields of education, culture, economical development, and social services.
