Ammon News - AMMAN – U.S. Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and his wife Dr. Jill Biden on Friday concluded their visit to Jordan.
Biden met with King Abdullah II on Thursday and discussed bilateral and regional issues, including the recent agreement to launch proximity talks between Israelis and Palestinians towards a two-state solution.
On Friday, Vice President Biden met with Jordanian civil society representatives and discussed preparations for the upcoming Jordanian parliamentary elections and ongoing domestic reform initiatives.
Before departing en route to Washington, VP Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden visited the ancient red-rose city of Petra in Southern Jordan. The Bidens were briefed on the significance of the ancient ruins as a trade center over two thousand years ago.
The ancient Nabataean archaeological city was chosen as one of the "new" seven wonders of the world last year.
