Ammon News - Students of the Princess Sumaya University for Technology come to Iserlohn, Germany
ISERLOHN - The Rubicon Contest is one of the most significant international student contests concerning economics worldwide. The event takes place from March 8 to 10 on the campus of the private, state-approved university BiTS in Iserlohn, Germany. During the three days of competition 100 participants making up 25 teams will work on innovative problem-solving strategies and ideas centered on the topic of “Sustainability”.
“2010 seems to become the best year in the history of the Rubicon Contest. We have not received that many applications from so many different countries ever before” rejoices project coordinator Bastian Bergmann. He is part of the collegiate initiative that organizes the Rubicon Contest voluntarily and independently. “The quality of the applications underlines the quality and popularity the Rubicon Contest has gained. For this reason we can claim to be the most international contest in the world.”
This year also a team from the Princess Sumaya University for Technology in Amman, Jordan will participate. Bassam AlRomaithy, Yasmin Wadi, Juan Ayah Bani Mustafa and Mohammed Al Mumallah form the team named “Management Evangelists”. Their aim is to do “the best to help to improve the local community and improve the market on the other hand by introducing strategical planning, that businesses in Jordan lack.” The team “Management Evangelists” is confident of victory and promises to do their utmost to reach it.
The team “Management Evangelists” will have to prove their economic skills within the two days of competition by competing in computer simulations and two case studies centered around the topic of “Sustainability”. Already in the last year innovative problem-solving strategies concerning “Green Business Management” were discussed. Within the first Case Study provided by Cove & Co. the students had to evaluate ideas for the opening up of target groups in the luxury goods industry. The final Case Study that was developed autonomously by the organizational team sought for approaches for the new EU-regulation to regulate the CO2- emission in the automotive industry. Still the results have to be presented in front of an academic, business and young professional jury. The winning teams will receive an award and attractive prizes.
