Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Results of an opinion poll measuring the public's reaction to the Royal Decree dissolving the Lower House of Parliament revealed that (85) percent of those polled strongly support the dissolution, while (78) percent of them said that dissolution was a result of the House's weak performance.
The poll, conducted by Al Hayat Center for Civil Society Development Monday night and Tuesday morning (23-24 November), sampled the opinions of (200) Jordanian personalities, including politicians, activists, journalists, academics, tribal leaders, and members of civil society institutions.
(90) percent of those polled strongly supported holding early elections, (69) percent strongly supported issuing a new electoral law, and (88) percent of participants strongly supported establishing an independent entity to monitor and administer the elections.
The center carried out the poll in an effort to know the different orientations of local society and public leaders towards the performance of the 15th House of Deputies that was dissolved Monday evening, in addition to measuring the different demands and suggestions of the public and experts regarding the new electoral law and independent monitoring of the upcoming elections.
The poll also inquired about the public's opinion on whether they support allocating special quotas for certain political parties and increasing women's quota in parliament.
Al Hayat Center for Civil Society and Development is an independent Jordanian non-profit NGO established in 2006 by a group of young Jordanians aimed at serving the Jordanian society and spreading awareness on civil society values based on equality, justice, freedom and democracy.
