Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The government's approach in combating the COVID-19 pandemic is dependent on increasing the capacity of the health sector quickly and in bolstering control over the people's commitment to health measures.

Minister of State for Media Affairs Ali Ayed told journalists at the Prime Ministry on Wednesday that the government will adhere to its approach of transparency and clarity in disseminating information to eschew confusion.

Ayed, who is the government's spokesperson, said that starting next week, there will be a weekly briefing on Monday to discuss COVID-19, highlighting that Wail Hayajneh, who is the top official on COVID-19 in the Ministry of Health (MoH), will be present. He noted that health correspondents will be the first to attend the weekly event.

He underlined that the weekly briefing is aimed at increasing the flow of information about COVID-19 disease and in keeping both the people and media abreast of all developments.

On rumors that the government is poised to impose curfews for long periods of time, Ayed said that the government had not discussed changes to the measures in place, which will continue until the end of 2020.

He said that after the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs had tested positive for COVID-19, all Cabinet ministers tested, in adherence to the protocol, all of whom tested negative.

The Minister said that all public institutions abide by health measures and social distancing, as they are all subject to inspections under Defense Order 20 of 2020.
