KOICA and BAU Sign the Record of Discussion for the Project for Developing Technical Education Programs

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - On May 18, 2020, Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)Jordan Office and Balqa’ Applied University (BAU) commenced the implementation of the project for “Developing Technical Education Programs at Al-Balqa Applied University in Al-Karak and Irbid(2020-2024/10 million USD)” by signing the Record of Discussion.

In an effort to support the national endeavors to tackle the chronic issue of high youth unemployment rate in Jordan, KOICA and BAU joined hands todevise the project in alignment with The Jordan National E-TVET Strategy 2014-2020, aiming to increase the employment opportunities of the graduates of the eight(8) supported majors in Irbid University College and Karak University College.

Acknowledging the ever-growing gap between the Technical and Vocational Education and Training(TVET) and the labor market needs, the project attempts to cultivate skilled technicians that meet market needs through the following project activities with the generous contribution of 6 million USD from the government of Republic of Korea: Establishment and improvement of TVET environment, Curricula development, Textbook development, Provision of Career guidance services, and Capacity building for faculty members. BAU will contribute 4 million USD for the construction of labs and workshops in this project. As partners, contributing together with 10 million USD is an example of the exerted effort to achieve one shared goal.
