In today's session, which was attended by Prime Minister Omar Razzaz and a number of ministers, Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez called on the government to develop a strategy to enhance the national economy. He referred to His Majesty King Abdullah's directive to the government to increase the salaries of public sector employees and retirees, which will enhance their ability to face tough living conditions and stimulate the economy. The Senate head also praised the government's procedures regarding the merger or scrapping of some independent institutions, which contributes to control spending "in light of the economic challenges facing us all."
