Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Syrian Chargé D'affaires in Amman, Shafiq Dayob, on Wednesday urged the Syrian refugees to return to their homeland after the "Syrian government took the necessary and possible measures to encourage and facilitate their return to their villages and farms."

During a meeting with a delegation representing Syrian tribes in Daraa, Raqqa and Aleppo countryside, Dayob said an amnesty law, the Syrian government passed last September, opened the door for the return of all refugees, whatever their circumstances and the reasons for leaving Syria.

He added that the doors of the embassy in Amman are open to all Syrians, and provide all consular and other services, including documents necessary for the return of refugees to their country.

The Chargé D'affaires said some 155,000 Syrians have returned from Jordan since the opening of the Naseeb border crossing a year ago, including some 32,000 refugees registered with the UNHCR, noting that the embassy is communicating with the Jordanian government and the UNHCR office in Amman to facilitate and support their return.
