Government presents future employment plans to donor countries

AMMONNEWS - The Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation and the Ministry of Labor organized a donors' meeting that brought together ambassadors, donors representatives, international financial institutions and various agencies working in Jordan.

The meeting came to present the recently-approved National Employment Charter, the government's plan and programs to increase and enhance employment opportunities to reduce unemployment and develop the professional and technical capacities of Jordanian youth, as well as to discuss support to development programs in this regard.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and Minister of State for Economic Affairs,Mohammed Al-Ississ, said Jordan continues to implement reforms that will support job creation, address unemployment, and back the Kingdom's reforms and development process.

The focus of the priorities for the current and next stage will be on the economic transformation towards enhancing the role of the private sector, growth, and job creation, facilitating the promotion of women's participation in the labor market and improving the services provided, Al-Ississ pointed out.

For his part, Minister of Labor, Nidal Batayneh, said the meeting comes within the framework of the government's efforts to provide job opportunities for Jordanians to reduce the unemployment rate, as a major economic and social challenge, and a top priority in the current and future stage.

The main objective of the meeting is to unify donors' efforts aimed to promote employment programs, the vocational and technical training sector, Batayneh noted.

During the discussions, Batayneh reviewed the axes and objectives of the National Employment Charter, lauding efforts of donors, international organizations, and various bodies to provide technical support to attract more investments, to provide more financial and technical support, to stimulate Jordanian economic growth, and to increase employment opportunities.
