Jordan, Iraq discuss energy cooperation

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Chairman of the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC), Khalid Touqan, on Thursday discussed with the Iraqi Minister of Health and Environment, Ala'a al-Alwan, the prospects of using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed providing the Iraqi market with radioisotopes produced by the Jordan Research and Training Reactor (JRTR), exchanging technical expertise, and training human cadres to counter challenges facing the Iraqi side in the treatment of radioactive medical waste.

Touqan praised the "distinguished" relations between the two countries, underlining the importance of strengthening them to serve the common interests.

For his part, the Iraqi minister stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries, expressing his readiness to cooperate in all fields related to medical radioisotopes.
