Razzaz, Turkish delegation discuss boosting joint investment opportunities

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - Prime Minister, Omar Razzaz, on Wednesday met a Turkish business delegation visiting the Kingdom in the framework of boosting economic and investment relations between the two countries.

The meeting, which was held at the prime minister's office, discussed means of developing Jordanian-Turkish cooperation in the sectors of investment and trade exchange, and taking advantage of the opportunities available in both countries to improve the levels of bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, which was attended by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sami Daoud, Razzaz stressed the importance of the "strategic" relations between Jordan and Turkey in various fields and intensifying visits between officials and representatives of different sectors, which "positively" reflect on the cooperation and partnership frameworks between the public and private sectors in both countries.

Razzaz briefed the delegation on the available opportunities and the attractive investment climate in Jordan, and the possibility of Turkish business community to benefit from the incentives provided by the Jordanian economy, thus contributing to the expansion of Turkey's investment base in the Kingdom, and to take advantage from the qualified human resources in all vital sectors.

The Turkish ambassador to Jordan, Murad Karagoz, who attended the meeting, said the bilateral relations are "historic, and deep-rooted," adding there is mutual interest in strengthening and promoting them on a sustained basis.

Karagoz pointed to the importance of the Prime Minister's visit to Turkey last year, during which he discussed many economic issues with the Turkish government, and the private sector, with a view to finding a common mechanism for expanding trade exchange between the two countries.

For their part, the Turkish delegation stressed the importance of mutual visits to revive the trade movement between the two countries and expand the investment base by updating them on "new and promising" investment opportunities.

The Turkish-Jordanian Business Council has prepared a study on investment opportunities in Jordan, including the Kingdom's sectors which enjoys an export advantage without customs tariffs in accordance with the Free Trade Agreement with the United States and many countries, the delegation pointed out.

The delegation have put forward proposals on several Jordanian sectors they wish to invest in, especially in the textiles, garments, carpets, and accessories domains.
