House approves personal status bill

Ammon News - AMMONNEWS - The Lower House Tuesday passed the personal status draft law and the amended bar association bill during a session chaired by Speaker Atef Tarawneh and attended by cabinet ministers.

The personal status law includes all matters related to personal status without referring to a particular sect.

The lawmakers endorsed all provisions governing such matters as custody, maintenance of children, parents and relatives, eligibility, guardianship, tutelage, will and inheritance as well as streamlining the alimony fund.

The legislature had endorsed in a previous session articles governing marriage and divorce in the 328-article bill.

It also approved the amended Bar Association bill for the year 2018 that extends the duration of the syndicate's board term for three years as is the case with the other professional associations.
