Relatively cold weather forecast Tuesday, depression Thursday

AMMONNEWS - A slight drop in temperatures is forecast on Tuesday, bringing relatively cold conditions across many parts of the Kingdom and pleasant in the Dead Sea and the Jordan Valley, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.

The weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy in the afternoon with scattered showers in the northern, eastern and central regions, while winds will be westerly moderate to brisk at times, blowing dust in the desert areas, the JMD added.

Daytime temperatures expected for today in Amman, the northern and southern cities will reach 16 degrees Celsius, dropping down to 8, 6, and 5 respectively. The weather will be warmer in the port city of Aqaba with highs reaching 26 degrees and lows standing at 16, the JMD explained.

Similar weather conditions will continue to prevail on Wednesday with scattered rain in the northern regions with southwesterly moderate to brisk winds, the JMD noted.

A depression centered over Cyprus is forecast to start affecting the Kingdom on Friday, creating relatively cold and partly cloudy weather with rainfall at times across many parts in the country.

Heavy rain accompanied by thunder is also expected at times that might cause floods in valleys and lowlands, while winds will be southwesterly moderate to brisk, the JMD further said.
